National Hydrology Project (NHP) – Surface Water Real-Time Data Acquisition System (RTDAS), Punjab

The National Hydrology Project (NHP) is a Government of India initiative aimed at strengthening water resources management through advanced hydrological monitoring, data integration, and evidence-based decision-making. The project focuses on improving hydrology data collection systems, enhancing water resource planning, and building institutional capacity for effective water management across India. As part of the Digital India mission, NHP enables seamless integration of water resource information between state and central agencies.

BIPS Systems Limited was awarded a prestigious contract by the Department of Water Resources, Punjab, for the Supply, Installation, Testing, and Commissioning (SITC) of a Surface Water Real-Time Data Acquisition System (RTDAS) at strategically selected locations across the state.

Scope of Work

• Supply, Installation, Testing, and Commissioning of RTDAS stations.
• Deployment of advanced instrumentation for real-time surface water monitoring.
• Integration of sensors and data acquisition systems for continuous field data collection.
• Establishment of communication networks using GPRS and satellite connectivity.
• Data transmission to State Data Centres and Central Monitoring Agencies.
• End-to-end project implementation and system commissioning.

BIPS Systems Limited successfully deployed state-of-the-art monitoring equipment at designated locations identified by the State Water Resources Department. The installed systems continuously capture realtime hydrological data, including water level and related environmental parameters.

The collected data is automatically transmitted to the State Data Centre through GPRS communication networks while simultaneously being shared with central agencies via satellite communication systems, ensuring uninterrupted data availability and reliability.
